FAQ

What types of trips do you offer? I offer many different kind of trips. In the Spring and Fall, I do a lot of rock climbing trips. In the Summer we focus on trips in alpine environments which range from basic mountaineering to technical alpine ascents. In the Winter I offer backcountry ski trips as well as ski improvement days in a ski resort. Besides guided trips, I do many instructional days where I teach you the skills necessary for you to feel comfortable going out in the mountains on your own.

Do I need prior experience? Not at all. Some trips or courses do require having some experience or skills prior to doing them. We also offer trips and courses for beginners. Many of our trips will say if there are certain requirements to meet before the trip. If you have a trip that you really want to do, we can come up with a progression to get you from where you are currently to be able to do the desired trip.

What level of fitness is required? This will depend on the trip. For basic mountaineering trips, you are asked to be able to hike at a pace of 1000' per hour for multiple hours with a pack. For more technical alpine climbs, you will need to not only able to hike but should be able to climb either ice or snow. For a day of rock climbing, you just have to be able to hike up to 20 minutes.

Are you Certified? Yes. I am an AMGA (American Mountain Guides Association) Certified Rock and Alpine Guide as well as an Apprentice Ski Guide. I am also a PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America) Level 2 Alpine Ski Instructor.

Do you do private or group trips? Much of what I do through the guide service I work for are group trips. If you want to enjoy a curated trip, I do offer private trips that are tailored to your needs. You can find different trip options by clicking the Rock, Alpine, or Ski menu items at the top of the page.

Do you only offer trips in Washington? I do offer trips in different parts of the US and some international destinations. If I am unable to make a trip happen for you somewhere, I can recommend local guides who I trust to give you a good time.

How do I book at trip? The best way to get started on a booking is to contact us via email or by filling out the booking request form. From there, you can find dates that are available and verify that what you want for a trip is possible.

Does Travis own or run his own business? No, I do not. I work for guides services or ski schools. This allows Travis access to terrain and land that he would not be able to if he had his own company. This is primarily due to the needs for liability insurance and land use permits.
