About the Course
Many alpine climbs in the Cascades are noted for being remote and sometimes difficult to access but that is not the case for Washington Pass. Located on Highway 20 in the North Cascades, there are an ample number of climbs to satisfy any climber. From 5.4 ridge climbs (South Arete of South Early Winter Spire) to hard test pieces (Thin Red Line 5.12), this zone has something for everyone. With many climbs not too far from the road, it is easy to day trip any of these climbs and enjoy the comforts of the towns in the Methow Valley.
The main area here is the Liberty Bell Group which is the most popular. There are plenty of other formations such as Cutthroat Peak or the Wine Spires that have fun and adventurous climbs as well. This is a great area to have a fun day moving over fun rock terrain or to train for bigger objectives in the Cascades and beyond.
Early season can also hold some snow and ice climbs or require the use of crampons to reach the rock climbs.
