Intro to Backcountry Skiing

Location

Stevens Pass, Snoqualmie Pass

About the Course

Do you long to ski those untracked slopes adjacent to ski areas? Or are you looking for a more efficient way to move over snow in the mountains? Then learning how to backcountry ski is what you are looking for.

In this course, you will learn the skills needed to begin skiing in the backcountry. This will include learning how to use the new gear, being aware of avalanche hazard, moving uphill, group management, and tips for skiing downhill. This is a great course to take before an AIARE Level 1 course as it will allow you to focus entirely on the avalanche specific teaching of that course because you won't have to worry about how to use your gear or how to skin up through a tricky section.

If scheduled privately, this course can be 1 or 2 days. It is held at either the Stevens Pass or Snoqualmie Pass zones in Washington.
